Sew Many Treasures

Some of you may be wondering where I shop for my patterns and fabric.  There is a lovely quilt shop in the Co-op Mall called Sew Many Treasures.  My mom’s good friend Brenda opened this shop several years ago and it has become my favorite place to visit!  They always have lots of new fabrics and TONS of idea’s.  Sometimes just for inspiration, I like to wander through and enjoy all the colors and designs of fabric and appreciate the work of other quilters hanging around the shop!  I would say this is where I get 99% of my supplies.  They carry everything you need for quilting including most notions, thread, patterns and tools.

My mom likes to by batting by the bolt from Brenda because, between her and I, we use so much of it!  All the best fabrics are available in kits, layer cakes, jelly rolls, bali pops, charm packs, fat quarters, or by the meter!  I never have any trouble finding the colors and designs that I’m looking for.
They also offer classes for those who are just learning to quilt or if you want to learn a new technique.  Many people take the classes for the social aspect I’m sure!  I wish I was able to take more of the classes they offer but unfortunately I work during the days and I’m just involved in too many other things after work.  I often buy the kits or the patterns and attempt the project on my own!  I am terrible for assuming that I will be able to figure anything out!  Usually I’m pretty good but there has been a lot of picking out of seams and puckers and miss-matched points along the way!
This weekend Brenda has planned the Fall Quilting retreat for Sew Many Treasure in Cypress Hills.  There are ten of us packing up our sewing machines and going out for the next 4 days for sewing and visiting and drinking coffee!  I look forward to all the quilting retreats because they give me an excuse to book off work for a few days in order to sew and get lots of my projects finished!

I’m not sure yet what will all get finished but I’m bringing fabric out for two more Day and Night quilts, my Underground Railway quilt (which has been half done for a year now!) and a couple of small projects for Christmas.  Also I’m bringing brownies and cherrie whisky…. Ah!  I can’t wait to hit the road tomorrow.  I plan to take pictures and keep the blog updated so check in often this weekend!
