Here is a quilt that I made for the brand new son of my friend Jenny! Benjamin was born on July 16th.
I first saw something similar to this quilt on Pinterest and I used my charm pack of Ten Little Things to to make this. I quickly realized that I needed more then one charm pack! Luckily I had other cute boy fabrics that I cut into to make a few more squares.
I did straight line quilting on this thinking it would add to the modern masculine design. I was really happy with they way the quilting turned out! I will definitely do this kind of quilting again I think. I used red minky on the back. I think minky is almost a must for baby quilts! I also did an extremely fussy method of binding. I wanted to carry the alternating red and brown colour into the binding and so I had to piece the binding slowly one section at a time. It took twice as long as normal but I think it was worth it!
I also added Ben’s name and birthdate to the quilt with my free-motion foot.
In case any of you are still wondering about my flood situation, I have been back living in my house for a week now. I am still waiting to get my final insurance quotes back to start rebuilding my basement, but for now everything is back to normal! Oh how I missed my sewing room! I have been working away and soon will have another baby quilt to show you!
Love this bright little quilt! Well done!
